Adj: laparoscopic (LAP-uh-ruh-SKAWP-ik) . A procedure done with a laparascope (LAP-uh-ruh-skohp), a thin, lighted tube used to look inside the abdomen. It is a type of endoscope but with a tiny video camera. A laparoscopic (radical) prostatectomy is a prostatectomy by this means. (Illustration show a laparoscopic procedure but not a prostatectomy.)
