During those days, Viagra had not been approved and
was, therefore, not available to the public. At a later date,
Dick did try the new blockbuster drug but with little success.
Viagra facilitates blood flow in the penis by relaxing the
arteries in the penis through a complex mechanism, at which
point an erection can occur. Viagra does not create an
immediate erection but takes about an hour to come to full
strength. There are a few suggestions to help facilitate the
absorption of the drug. Enjoying a hot bath is one, because it
increases blood flow to the penis, but primarily, Viagra
requires tactile sexual stimulation.
Unfortunately, Dick's venous leak from his radical
prostatectomy virtually eliminated the effect of the Viagra.
Another unfortunate problem was that he was one of the men
taking Viagra who had unusual symptoms like having a bluish
tint in his vision. Fearful that if he gave the pills to another
man, the recipient could develop this same problem or worse,
Dick flushed all of his pills down the toilet. Considering that
the 60 pills cost approximately $10 each, this was a $600 royal
flush.
If your partner has any of the following medical
conditions, Viagra is not recommended:
• Irregular heartbeat or recent heart attack
• Congestive heart failure
• Chest pain
• Blood pressure lower than 90/50
• Blood pressure higher than 170/110
• Retinitis pigmentosa
• History of cardiovascular disease
• Nitroglycerin or nitrate prescriptions
At this writing, however, eight million men have used
Viagra and 75% of them are satisfied with the results; an
excellent satisfaction rate. Shortly after Viagra was released, I
found out that it was working extremely well.
