MUSE DEMONSTRATED
MUSE is short for "medicated urethral system for erection." It consists of a tiny medicated pellet that is inserted into the urethra, the opening at the end of the penis, to produce erections.
The active ingredient is alprostadil, the same active ingredient that is used in Caverject. Alprostadil has been used to produce erections long before Viagra was on the market. According to Vivus, the manufacturer, "The medicated pellet in MUSE causes blood vessels to relax
allowing the penis to fill with blood. MUSE works quickly in achieving a
natural-feeling erection that begins 5-10 minutes after dosing, and may last 30-60
minutes. However, the actual duration will vary from patient to patient."
This illustration shows how the applicator is inserted into the opening at the end of the penis to leave the small pellet.
Go to the MUSE Web page for more information.
Vivus also makes Actis, a latex ring, to help maintain erections. A page about Actis is at this site.
